Gertrude Contemporary has sixteen low-cost artist studios available for artists in the first fifteen years of their professional career. Applications are accepted annually for these two-year studio residencies.
Since their inception in 1983 Gertrude Contemporary’s Studio Program has provided practical support and professional advocacy for many of Australia’s leading contemporary artists.
16 low cost, non-residential studios located at Gertrude Contemporary are available to emerging artists for a period of two years. They range in size from 30–72 square metres. All spaces have fluorescent light and access to running water. Most have additional natural light and some have a private sink. The first and second floor studios allow good access for large works.
The current subsidised monthly rental is $200* including electricity. Tenants are required to pay one month's rent in advance, and a bond which is equivalent to two month’s rent.
*Subject to change. GST inclusive.
