Gertrude Contemporary offers a range of residency programs for visiting international and interstate, artists and curators, for periods of between two weeks to three months. Participants in the residency program stay in Gertrude Contemporary’s fully-appointed residential apartment/studio, Studio 18, that is located on the top floor of Gertrude Contemporary’s gallery complex. During their residency the participants will gain opportunities to become involved in Gertrude Contemporary’s cultural community, pursue independent studio practice and on occasion engage with cultural exchange projects. The Visiting Curator Program is an initiative in which an invited international curator undertakes an extended residency in Gertrude's Studio 18, usually between two weeks and two months. During this period, Gertrude Contemporary facilitates a series of studio visits and meetings with artists and professionals involved in the Australian contemporary arts sector. The aim of the Visiting Curators Program is to open new opportunities for Australian artists to locate their work in an international context, and for international curators to establish ongoing, in-depth relationships with Australian peers and networks.
