In 2012, Gertrude Contemporary proudly presented a new commission by Studio Artist Paul Yore. Yore’s multifaceted practice includes sculpture, collage, installation, drawing and kinetics, and offers an exuberant affront to more restrained aesthetic approaches. Merging low-fi and DIY elements sourced from thrift and haberdashery stores, the work offers itself as a wunderkammer in which found objects are imbued with spiritual, mythical, political, and religious associations. In Yore’s delirious realm, meaning is always evolving as it negotiates states of spectacle and menace.
