Organisational Context

Gertrude is a not-for-profit art gallery and studio complex operating across two venues in Preston South and Collingwood in Naarm Melbourne. Founded in 1985, Gertrude is widely considered to be one of Australia’s leading incubators for contemporary visual art. With equal emphasis on supporting the production and presentation of art, Gertrude’s programs incorporate 16 studios supporting the 2-year Studio Program, and the presentation of an exhibition program of solo and curated exhibitions across two venues. Gertrude works with leading artists to develop artist-driven exhibitions and with independent curators to produce innovative models of exhibition making. Gertrude is committed to supporting the production of new work and exhibition models and connecting these projects with broad public audiences.

Position Purpose

Gertrude is seeking applications for the Exhibition & Studio Coordinator role. This is a part-time role (0.8 FTE) working Monday - Thursday, with increased hours during installation periods as part of an agreed Flexible Working Arrangement. Prospective candidates 

Working closely with the Artistic Director and Curator to deliver Gertrude’s exhibition program, the Exhibition & Studio Coordinator supports exhibition lifecycle management, including planning, production, logistics, installation and de-installation. The role also involves maintenance and improvement of Gertrude’s facilities; technical requirements for Gertrude programs and events; and providing support for the studio program and artists.
