Andrew McQualter has maintained an active exhibiting career since completing a degree in painting at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1994. He has held individual exhibitions at 1st Floor, Melbourne 2002; Gallery 4A, Asia-Australia Arts Centre, Sydney 2001; Lovers Gallery, Melbourne 1999; 1st Floor, Melbourne 1996; and the Fictional and Actual Artists' Space, Melbourne 1996. Recent group exhibitions have included New 03, Australian Centre of Contemporary Art, Melbourne 2003; Project Room, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne Art Fair, Royal Exhibition Buildings, Melbourne 2002; Studio, Bus Gallery, Melbourne 2002; Tilia Europaea, Linden Art Centre, Melbourne 2001; rubik #13, Sarah Cottier Gallery, Sydney 2001; Travels in Time, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne 2001; Are you Experienced: rubik #10, The Physics Room, Christchurch 2000; and Primavera, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney 1999. Andrew is an active writer of reviews and criticism and is a member of the artists' group rubik. He participated as a committee member of 1st Floor from 1994-1999.
