Clare Firth-Smith completed post graduate studies in painting at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2001. Since 1990, she has been actively exhibiting in both artist-run spaces and public galleries including individual exhibitions at Boutwell Draper Gallery, Sydney 2002; Penthouse and Pavement, Melbourne 2001 and 2000; and the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne 1997. Recent group exhibitions have included The Home Front, Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Canberra 2002; aesthetic form, idspace, Melbourne 2002; Fresh from Paris, Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne 2001; Glacier (contemporary painting), RMIT Gallery, Melbourne 2001; Painting Now, Kaliman Gallery, Sydney 2001; ARKITEKT, BlauGrau Gallery, Sydney 2001; and Paintings are Ace, Linden Art Centre, Melbourne 2000. She has received a number of awards and grants including the Nino Sanciolo Le Venezie Fellowship (Venice) 2002 and has been a recipient of Arts Victoria project grants in 2002 and 2000 and an Australia Council New Work Grant in 2000. Clare Firth-Smith is represented by Boutwell Draper Gallery, Sydney; and her work is represented in public and private collections in Australia and overseas.
