Darren Sylvester

Darren Sylvester’s multidisciplinary practice involves photography, video, sculpture, music production and performance. Usually involving a wide range of pop culture elements, each medium is given a high-end production sheen or twist to be transformed into a discussion on contemporary ennui and pathos.
His work is held in several public collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Queensland Art Gallery, Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Art Gallery of Western Australia as well numerous private collections internationally.
Exhibitions include Take Me To You, Nanyang Academy of FIne Arts, Singapore 2010; Contemporary Australia: Optimism, Queensland Art Gallery, 2008; Silverstein Photography Annual, Silverstein Photography, NY, New York, 2008 and NEW06, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. Melbourne.
In 2010 Sylvester released his debut self-titled album on Unstable Ape and Remote Control Records and is represented by Sullivan+Strumpf Fine Art, Sydney.
