Grace Culley

Grace Culley (b. 1999 Gosport, England) is an Australian artist using process-based methods of problem solving and tangential research, to investigate the biopsychosocial layers that make up patterns of control-related behaviour. Culley repeats visual motifs and imagery using drawing, painting, sculpture and assemblage; focussing on question-generating qualities in her material processes to have a self-reflective wrestling match with her desire to control things by ‘solving’ them. The resulting labor-intensive works consider pervasive systems of control and how these systems are subtly revealed through the actions of individuals.
