Rebecca Agnew

Rebecca Agnew is a New Zealand born painter, sculptor and Stop Animator based in Melbourne. She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne with an MFA in 2012 and the University of Otago, Dunedin with a BaFA in 2004.
Recent residencies include, Waaw, Saint Louis, Senegal and Theertha Red Dot Gallery, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her latest animation is part of the Melbourne International Animation Festival. Agnew had represented exhibitions by Tristian Koenig Gallery in 2013 and 2014 and travelled to Sydney for the Contemporary 13: International Art Fair, and had Stop Animations in M100, Santiago, Chile and Interior 2.1 (TRAMA Centro), Guadalajara, Mexico. In 2013 Rebecca was commissioned by Art bank to produce a Stop Animation which is now part of the permanent collection and she was awarded the Artstart Grant in 2014 and was recently awarded Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Travelling Fellowship (Art) 2015 and is a current studio artist at Gertrude Contemporary.
